The time is two o’ clock in the afternoon; a hen, cow, sheep, and a pig are forced to create food for the townspeople. They are tired and bored of having to do this laborious process over and over. The evil farmer “John” has been overworking his animals, due to the fact that his farm business has been booming. Doing “busy, but not hard work,” the animals are sick and exhausted of not having leisure weekends free to spend with their family.
As weeks passed by, the Cow finally said, “Enough is enough I am tired of being forced to create milk, and have to give it up to the townspeople.” After a day passed by, the Cow calls a meeting to meet with the Hen, Sheep, and Pig. He explains the plan quickly. “Alright soldiers, are you tired of having your weekends taken away?!” “Yeah!” Yell the animals. “Well then we need to think of a plan to get passed our work, SEND ME IDEAS!” No one spoke; they stayed quiet thinking of the perfect plan. Suddenly the Hen yells out, “ Why don’t we escape every weekend and go to the river with our family, and enjoy time with them. Then we return on Monday and continue our jobs. We will do this until John understands we are tired of losing peaceful time with our family, and friends.” “Great idea!” Said the Cow. “This Saturday we shall run to Glass River, and return until Monday. And we will do this until John returns our family time.”
Few days passed and the animals continued their routine labor. When Saturday came along. The Cow gave his “GO” sign. The animals knew to quickly grab their family and run towards the river. There they all met up, and made their own little campsite. The Pigs weren’t too sure about this idea. One of them said, “ What if they send us to the slaughterhouse?” The cow replied, “ Then it’s a chance we have to take.” Not to sure about the plan, the animals decided to stay anyway. Monday morning came, and the farmer had yet to find the animals. After his long search John gave up and lost hope in finding his animals.
Heading inside John noticed the animals returning from the river. He then quickly went to fetch them. Another week passed and the animals returned to the river. After a while the farmer caught on to their weekend routine, and made a plan of his own. “I’m going to follow them.” Next Saturday came along and he followed the animals to the campsite. He saw the animals having a blast with each other. The animals were playing, and spending their time together happily. It was then when the farmer understood he had been forcing the animals to work too hard. In the following weeks the farmer reflected on his unfair actions and decided to give his hard working animals a break.
